Science as a pop-up store concept.

Major social challenges can best be solved together. The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU) and the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) are making a contribution to this dialogue with an innovative pop-up store concept: the Science Gallery, for which we have provided the appropriate setting.

Shape the future together

Shape the future together

Making science tangible and understandable for everyone. Communicate new ideas and impulses. Awaken the spirit of research in all of us. Promote commitment to the region: The aspirations of the Science Gallery are as high as they are diverse. This calls for a design concept that is as ambitious as it is flexible. Over the next two years, there will be a series of changing exhibitions on research projects from KU and THI in the premises in Ingolstadt’s city centre. The first in this series is the show “Sustainable Development”.

Making space for innovation

Making space for innovation

A place for change. A place to discover. A place to linger: The Science Gallery welcomes all curious visitors. Therefore, our pop-up store concept provides different areas, each of which fulfills a specific function. After entering, you find yourself in the information area. Since the changing exhibitions often require quick rearrangement, the idea of free-standing information boards in different sizes came to life. Leaning against the wall and flexible in use, they underline the temporary character of the Science Gallery. At the same time, their variety of materials enlivens the spatial concept: they consist of yellow and white plexiglass contrasting with untreated OSB panels. Together with the 3-D mobile, the casual atmosphere of a gallery is created. Moving on, you reach the communication area, where a bar invites you to cosy conversations. In the rear area of the Science Gallery, visitors can expect a spacious interaction area, which offers space for exhibits as well as a stage.

Knowledge and exchange on one line

Knowledge and exchange on one line

The gallery character is not only noticeable inside, but also on the outside: there, the frame becomes the style-defining element. This applies from the small, such as the logo, to the large, such as the building facade. Not only the black lines are striking – colourful surfaces in bright blue and yellow also attract attention in the hustle and bustle of the shopping street. In this way, the Science Gallery should appeal to as many people as possible in order to become a place of dialogue between citizens, business and science – for a sustainable and liveable future for all.
