KESSEL AG and Thomas L. Fischer
Since 1963, the name KESSEL has been synonymous with innovative and safe drainage technology. Over the decades, the corporation from Lenting (near Ingolstadt) in Germany has established itself as an industry-leading international premium manufacturer. KESSEL drains, backwater valves, lifting stations, pumps and separators are in use in over 60 countries – because when it comes to wastewater discharge and treatment as well as backwater protection, KESSEL is the right way to go.
Sustainability is an increasingly important part of business policy at KESSEL AG, which is why the company has been voluntarily publishing sustainability reports for several years already. For 2019, the report’s third edition was to be conceptualised and realised. As the client’s wish was to convey the subject of sustainability in a more emotional way than what is common in the industry, a storytelling approach was chosen to serve as a guiding thread throughout the report. At its centre are the motto “Do what matters tomorrow” as well as multiple illustrated articles, which substantiate the strategic fields of action and goals by means of concrete stories about everyday life at the company.
For instance, the articles exemplify the value chain by tracking products’ journey through the company, examine environmental protection at the workplace in a virtual tour of the factory premises and portray a KESSEL staff member in detail to showcase KESSEL AG’s initiatives as a sustainable employer. The texts are enlivened by large images, info boxes and employee quotes as well as infographics, which allow readers to grasp the most important facts and figures at a glance. The sustainability report was presented to the public for the first time at the ISH 2019 trade fair.
